clutch replacement

all i have to say. what was ford thinking. they have to look at honda's to build fwd. yeah ford has done a couple things rights, but i have been working on this finking car for 7 hours and i just got the trans off. omg that was a dick.

well i have pull the spec clutch off and they didnt have all the surface touching the clutch. what is that about.
i dont understand that at all.

another thing, what up with the wiring they have things go everywhere. i hope i get all the pugs back in there is like 100 haha that unplugged.

this is getting stupid. ford you dont have to go over board with wiring. sometime it better with less. jusss sorry venting again . it has been a long day. ill post more pic tomorrow and a how to. if other want to add in please do. im going to bed

I'm sorry bro but you really need to take a lesson on writing. It is very hard to understand what you are trying to say most of time...Are you saying that Ford put in the Spec clutch for you and they did a bad job? I really have no idea what ford did wrong here since the SVT did not come with a spec clutch to begin with.....lol

no i was saying ford doesn't know how to put a tranny in. i know there are some easier way that i don't know yet. this is my 1st clutch i am putting in.

on here or the other sites don't have a great info, pic and tips of "how to". about clutches. i am taking pictures of everything so people can see and learn how to do a replacement. i didn't have all the tools today to finish so i can't really do anything.

also i had 10k on that clutch

well i thought i would help out a little with people that don't have a clue about clutches like i did. after doing this 2 times in a month. it is pretty easy now. not really but it was easier the second time. i mite have done differently to others, but it got my job done.

if i forgot something i'm sorry.

1. take off the wheels front one only. no really need to take off the back, but if you want go ahead.

2. start unbolting the suspension and unclip the break line

3. take a 32mm socket for the axle nuts. look and check the nuts sometime they flare out so you need to go to ford and buy new one ($20 for the pair)

4. get under the car and unbolt the axle bearing (i think that what it is called) is on the pass side. there are 2 13mm bolts. then the axles can come out. i use a big hammer b\c i was getting pissed that i had to do this again.

5. i pulled off the intake manifold, and i have already move my battery and box.

6. take out the dog bone or back lower mount, 3 bolts on the block and one in the frame. all are 13mm. also while your under there take off some of the sub frame off. driver side. i think there were 2 bolts don't remember but 18mm sound right.

7. i pulled 2 sets of wires out so they get didn't damage in anyway.

8. put a jack under the block for sub port. there a 4 on the drive side mount. they are 5/8 nuts and 1 13/16 nut don't remember.

9. now start on the tranny bolts. there are 11 of them all are 13mm.

10. i had help on this part. i made a stand so it can hold up the motor. then i moved the jack over to the tranny. after pulling and prying tanny fell out. don't do what i did. i forgot to take out the hydraulic line. it got bent a little easy fix.

11. there are 6 Alain bolts to take the clutch off, than another 6 star keys.

12. swap clutches or whatever. make sure you tq them down right. 84lbs for the flywheel and 21lbs for the clutch.

13. this was hard to put the tranny back in. i use a forklift to do the lifting and my pry bars to get her in place

14. put everything back to together

15. bleed the clutch line.

16. put the suspension back together and put the wheels on.

i think thats everything. if you want to add something please do. i dont know all the tips yet and i dont want to do this again. so no i will not do yours hahah

Jeff, did you have any help with your installs? Let me know if you can use an extra hand when you get the new clutch.
