Getrag leak covered under 100k warranty

At my last oil change I noticed the axle seals on my 2003 SVTf were seaping a little. I read a few posts that stated these were difficult to change and at least one that stated Ford messed up the case on their trans while changing the seals. Anyway, I changed my oil again this weekend and the seals seem to be seaping worse and it looks like the trans may be leaking where the 2 halves come together. I assume all of this will be covered under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty but I was wondering if anyone else had had this issue repaired under warranty?

Should I have the clutch replaced while they're in there?....73,600 miles on the odometer as of this oil change.

Thanks,
Gary

yes it is covered under the 100k warrenty. If the dealership is a nice one they will most likly charge you a minimal fee to install the clutch while the trans is out, somthing like 200-300 extra.

taking out the transmission for axle seal? all you have to do is full out the axles and remove the seals. transmission doesn't come out.

How is the trans sealed between the halves?

Seems like it would have to come out to fix that.

If the trans must come out, the clutch would be a good idea if you can, be easier then hassling with it later.

his not talking about transmission seal. his talking about axle seals on the transmission output shafts. transmission doesn't have to come out if y our just replace axle seals.

sorry your correct axles seals can be replaced without taking out the trans. I was trying to remember back from what I was told when mine was leaking but remembered incorrectly. Mine had to be taken out because it was the trans seal.

Just to clarify, my axle seals are leaking in addition to the trans seal.

The trans should be covered under the extended warranty.

In which case, the axle seals are no longer an issue for you.

I'm on my 2nd transmission. According to my dealer, if there is a trans problem of any kind associated with leakage or shifting problems, they immediately replace the entire unit and send the whole thing back to Getrag for a post mortem exam.

*chuckling at this one* According to the dealer, Getrag claims (in the most German of accents) that these transmissions almost NEVER fail. I am sure on my first one that it was a 5 cent cotter pin that went spinning into the works that caused 2nd gear to disinegrate and shear off the pinion.

Push for a full replacement as that seems to be Getrag's policy.

I agree. I got a new one for a simple detent spring that broke. Seems Getrag is pretty arrogant about their design.
