xcal 2 question

hey all,
it's been several months since i've been on this forum because my svt was traded for a wrx. anyways i have some parts i was gonna post up in the buy/sell section but i need to know if my x cal 2 is locked or unlocked. could somebody explain to me how i attain that information so i can negotiate a fair price.

Here's what mommy should have told you to do when you downshift:
1. Step on the clutch
2. Simultaneously slide the shifter into a lower gear and give the throttle a quick, amazingly precise jab to rev the engine to exactly the rpm it needs to be at in the next gear
3. Quickly let out the clutch

Oh sure, It takes a few thousand tries before you get the timing and precision of your jab just right, but the reward is that you no longer suck.

If you've already used it on your SVT, than it can only be used on that car unless you or the person who buys it from you has it reprogrammed to work on a different SVT. The process costs about $150 and the various vendors on this board who sell the Xcal2 can help you with that.

To completely unlock the unit:
1) Load stock/factory tune back on car from the XCal2.
2) Hook up the XCal2 to your PC, and using the SCT software, pick the unlock option.

If you did both of the above then it's unlocked.
If not, as rrmike1 mentioned, it'll run about $150 to get it unlocked at an SCT dealer.

Did you flash it back to stock before you traded it? If not then you may be stuck having to pay SCT to unlock it. Or sell it for like $50 or so and let someone else deal with it.

Do you still have the SCT software loaded on your computer?
Hook it up, and if the "unlock" option is grayed out, or it won't let you unlock it at all,
that means the unit is still VIN locked to whatever car was tuned with it.
