yah im goin of the stock gauge and when i had the cat in the temp sat just below the middle. and after i put on the orp it sits 3/4 the way up and it didnt change when i wrapped it either..

let me ask you this, when is the last time you flushed your coolant?
i noticed that the oil temp gauges fluctuates more with the coolant temp rathar than EGT's. i used to have a low-temp t-stat in mine and because of us having an oil cooler that is routed through the OEM coolant system, the oil temps went down as well(according to the gauge) i could coast down a mt on the highway and watch my autometer coolant gauge drop and the SVT oil temp gauge followed suit.

my oil temps dont go up cuz my ORP either

i dont see why you couldnt run 2 layers of header wrap. although many of us can drop that much money in just header wrap.

btw,,,, if anyone is in my area next week, i am wrapping my header and ORP again. if anyone wants to watch or wrap thier own header, i am fully willing to help out.
i got another SVT driver in hagerstown that might be over.

if you have never had your cat off, i suggest you bring a metal cutting saw-zaw blade

Welll the coolant change was not that long ago i cracked my t-stat housing. so i flushed the coolant and relpaced t-stat with a 180f from c-f-m.

in that case, you should not be experiencing high oil temps. it should never go more than half way up.
there are many peeps here running stock cats with no heat shields. those people will see highe temps than us cuz of the cat heating up

Ok becuase I don't feel like reading through 19 pages of stuff I'll just ask it here and hope somebody responds in a timely manner,

Do the header bolts to the block need to be torqued to anything specific? or is 'snug' good enough?

^^^ there is a specific torque.. yes.. the head is alluminum and you don't want to over torque them. But honestly when i wrapped my header and put it back on.. i tightened them snug then i did a quarter turn. Worked for me.. i've had the header off and on prob 3 times and have done it every time

the torque specs are EXACTLY the same as the Powerworks Kit......

everything is torqued to "Goot-en tight".

ok, again (still too lazy to read through all 20 pages)

a) What does the silicon sealant do?

b) How long did you allow it to 'dry' before reinstalling

c) Since the pipes end up being fairly cool to the touch with the wrap is there anyreason I couldn't just use tie-straps in stead of hose-clamps?
