I did the wrap and a few updates.

My header wrap is holding up very well, yes the black header wrap has faded. Heck it faded as soon as I soaked it to wrap my header wet (lol that sentence just sounds funny). I did my best to wrap it really tight but I noticed there were a few loose spots on mine and will have to try and use a clamp to get the slack out. Be sure to wear a mask, I am not sure if those tiny metal particles are good for your lungs. On second thought I am wearing eye protection next time too.

Okay now for the smell....What the heck!? How long is that stuff going to stink my cab up and is that stuff bad to be breathing in? I am afraid if I have to ask that it is.

I had to uninstall my ORP because I am moving out of state and wrapped the cat, lets see how that lasts....

what is the best wrap you guys have used? im sure there are multiple companies...i know DEI is alright...any better ones?

also no one answered if i can wrap the cat back of if that is a bad idea? i was gonna wrap the HFC but not the actual cat part...just the piping part...maybe thats a bad idea...or i was gonna buy a ORP for track and stuff and wrap that...any suggestions?

it will be there from 1-2 weeks depending on how many miles you put on it. did you have some smoke too? all this is normal. did you break it in properly as described on the packaging?

is the black wrap just the tan stuff painted from the manufacturer?

B16, Mike Trendel, and I discussed it a while back and he said it shouldn't really be a problem. The hotter the cat runs the easier it is to burn the excess gas and thus not allow it to get clogged.

Actually I was thinking and I may leave the honeycomb section unwrapped and rig up some WRC exhaust fans and have them point at the Cat so it will push the heat away.

I really dont think it would hurt a converter, but its a "untested" idea. I do know however, especially on the svt, if you wrap the ORP, it drops the oil temps more than you could imagine. Its also doing alot more for the scavaging of the exhaust than you can imagine too.
