My throttle cable is burning into the head, what should I do?

This is a very tough thing to describe, and I don't have a camera so I can't take a picture..so I "paintshopped" a random SVT picture I found on the internet the best I possibly could.

Red: This cable seems to have burned a little bit into the head...but I moved the little piece of rubber insulation on the cable back over the head and it seems to have stopped burning. No big deal there.

Yellow: This cable has somehow shrank backwards towards the other cable. They seem to be roughly the same length now. I dunno how this cable got smaller but I know it should be much longer than it is. I checked the length of the cable under the hood and also under the dashboard where it is connected to the gas pedal and it is definitely not loose. It feel as tight as always. I can't understand how the cable could shrink in length. Anyways this cable is burning into the head as well because it is so much shorter than it should be that it rests directly on top of the head. As you can see, the cable is clipped to the top of the radiator....My cable has lost a good 8 inches in its total length.

Green: Exactly where the cables have burned into the head.

What the hell could possibly cause this!?

My car has been idling funny lately and my guess is this has something to do with it because it is definitely not normal.

I'll take a look at mine and see. I think one of mine kinda burned a little into the calve cover as well. Nothing serious.

Thats not an 03... my cables are not that long.

Put a piece of rubber hose over the cable where it is rubbing on the valve cover and that should stop the problem.

Those cables are shown running accross the valve cover which doesn't get hot enough to "burn" anything. I would bet that the cables are rubbing the valve cover due to engine vibration and the friction is wearing away the cable housing.

Make sense?
