Question 3in exhuast question.

wondering if a 3in exhuast from my hfc to tip would make any hp/tq gains? also would it sound like crap? this is on a n/a svt with tb, sri, tune, RT/hfc. this would be custom from a muffler shop. If anyone has tried this please give feedback. Thanx!

The only real numbers we've seen so far with a 3" exhaust were ~7-9hp/tq from 3" piping straight back off of the header.

i would spend your money on something else. the stock SVT exhaust is a straight through design and flows well. i would replace the cat with a ORP.

I think it will sound good. Mine sounds good off the Offroad-pipe. Search the svt forum for 3" exhaust vids (i posted quite a few). Also, your talking about an "exhaust shop" who normally crush bend your exhaust. So you may be starting with a 3" pipe, but if its crush bent your through diameter will only be around 2.5" through the bends.

I am a huge believer in Mandrel Bending (computer bent piping which keeps its inner diamter same through the bends) which is what im using and love it.

Tom removed the catpipe for 3" straight piping which added to the numbers a lot down low, but the 3" all the way back definitely added to the peak numbers.
