This happen to one of my friends. Look IN the coil, on the very bottom you should see copper. When my friends went out his was a greenish color. He just sent it to msd and a couple weeks later they sent it back. G/L hope this helps out.

could it be fuel related, and nothing to do with the mods?

check the connection on the wires, make sure they are really snug. Check the terminals too, the green is oxidized copper, if its black there is carbon build up, both suggest a bad connection (which causes arcing, which causes heat, which speeds up oxidization).

I recently had a problem with bogging under throttle, but it would rev well in neutral. In my case its cause I was using FR wires on a SD coil, which has the same terminals as the MSD, they are a different shape and take a different wire. It was causing a bad connection and it burned a hole in the insulation on 1 of the wires, and the spark would arc thru that occasionally, and mostly under load for some reason.

It COULD be fuel, I changed my fuel filter when I first noticed it, thinking the same thing. It was the wires though, I got new ones. I have a nice new fuel filter though.

EDIT: I cleaned my terminals best I could with electronics cleaner (basically rubbing alcohol) and cue tips, not sure if it was really necessary, but I had a lot of build up. If you do as well I would suggest it, with cleaner terminals and new wires the problem has been completely solved for me.

EDIT 2: a little dielectric grease around the top of the terminal is supposed to help keep air out of the terminal, oxygen and heat promote oxidation, a good connection reduces heat, and grease cuts down on fresh o2, should keep the connection cleaner longer.
