Orp users in California

Hey everyone. I am thinking of getting either the CFM high flow cat or an ORP. I was leaning more toward the HFC because I live in California and am worried I might get a ticket from the cops around here. I would like thoughs of you who do live in Calif and have used or are currently using an ORP to share any experiences. Thanx in advance guys.

In LA? Dude look at how many people drive with no license plate on.
That's the odds of you being pulled over for orp

Now at the smog check...thats another story

I wouldnt run an orp in cali, simply because the cat is such a pain to change on the svt and in my area occasionally they will have drive by air sniffers. (only seen one once, but have heard of them bieng used on the news more extensively)

I dunno, after having to let my bolts sit with penetrant for 24hrs just to get them to break loose, its not worth it to me.. Not to mention if you round off the nuts on the aft attachment your in for some fun as its a pain in the arse to get any tools other then a socket+extension up there. Its easier if you just run a High flow cat, of course if you just bought your car in '04 you dont have to smog till '09 so that would be worth installing the orp.

I have a hard time believing that, after smogging my svt and going with a friend to get his focus smogged they were both pretty close to not passing all across the board. Both our cars run great and have had all maintanence done (actually more often then listed) Of course if your car is not a california original car it may only have been compared to the federal smog emissions criteria as opposed to ca. emissions.

Anyhow even if your car did pass ca. emissions with a orp i would not recommend doing that for everyone, your car may have just been running that good on that day or may be a factory fluke..

If its used they already smogged it when they sold it to you, and you ma have to do the smog 2 yrs from when you bought it or 5 yrs from original sale date (when it was new)
