SVT Focus Cams?

Well I got the mod bug as usual when it comes to my cars and I, just trying to find an agressive street cam setup for a daily driven SVT focus. I was looking at Ford racing stage 2 cams but someone suggested ford racing stage 3 cams would be suited more to my liking on the SVT. But arent FR stage 3 cams close to stock SVT cam specs? Anyone have cams? If so what brand and were they worth it? I wanna keep the SVT Focus all motor and this looks like the next step. I know I will need a tune, but I have a programmer coming so no worries. Any help much appreciated.

None of the FR cams will fit the SVT

If you're keen to shell out some $1200+, CNCheads in the UK will be glad to send you some cams developed for the ST170. Otherwise, we have rumor and conjecture, but no actual cams. I believe Tom himself has or had at one point a set of prototype cams, and I think it was C-F-M was rumored to be working on a set. Or was that a ported cylinder head....

Does anyone have them installed AND have they done anything inregards to the performance of the car?

I'm sick of my SVT not having aftermarket parts (performance mods).

Exhausts don't do schit for more than 3-5hp....intakes are good for 1-3hp. Tuning just helps with driveability...

I'm bummed out. IF ANYONE MENTIONS A TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER...well, you know what! for that money I can drop my buddies 2001 Cobra motor & trans (good for 350hp at the wheels) and have a RWD car...

whatever happened to ZXTuner's cams? Nobody ever bought those because he wouldn't post numbers?

Sadly, if it were as easy as that, there would be a lot more RWD Focii around.

An FJ user by the name of "COSVT03" (I think..) had the CNCheads cams installed. I'm not sure how they spec compared to Bigfonsz's cams, and last time I checked Cosvt03 hadnt had his dyno'd. We only had his opinion that the upgrade was worth the cost; which ended up approaching a JRSC kit.

According to BIgfonsz's for sale post, the cams are a one-off. As far as I know and have heard, either here or on FJ, there are a total of one (1) SVT Focus owner in the continental United States with aftermarket cams in. Hard numbers may be hard for you to track down.

Hope you're handy with a welder, forced induction is the best proven way to add more than a handful of wheel hp on our cars. And since your answer to that is to buy a Cobra drivetrain and install that instead (how you plan to do that for ~$3000 is beyond me), I'd get to bendin' your custom brackets.

Good luck!

I have the first set of ZXTuner SVT cams. I had them in the engine I ran at Mid-Ohio in April '05 ... but it died from a smoked rod bearing/rod bolt.

I didn't have a chance to dyno the engine before it blew, but I did feel it had improved low and mid range torque and power beyond my normal PW setup.

I intend to eventually get the head that has these cams back on another engine as it doesn't appear damaged.
