Doc says trans. is shot...

So, the doc says i need a new transmission for the focus. Anyone have some words for me on this, IE* how much, where to look, what type of clutch should i put in with it? I figure since i need a new trans, a new clutch is a gimmie... Just one thing, anyone else loose there transmission after only 35K on it?
This cant be normal.. It has relatively smooth miles, but i'm not going to lie, i get on it every now and then..
I noticed that there are 5 different types of clutches for these, types, i should say. What are the differences between these, and how do i go about finding out what "type" of clutch i need. Also, how do i go about finding out what type of transmission i have in it too!
Thanks all!!!
Zak.

My buddy killed his today, put it in first, let the clutch out and it just grinds BAD!

I like either the Clutch Masters stg. 3 or 4. I like the feel of the 4, even when NA.

Not to seem suspicious, but you've got a 2004 SVT with 35,000 miles?

Did you buy it new?

Who is the "Doc"?

Has Ford refused to warantee the transmission? If so, what was their reasoning, you're less than 3 years and 36,000 miles. You're REALLY less than the 5-year 100,000 drive train warranty.

You could have a turkey transmisson OR someone "serviced" the trans at 30,000 (or so) and didn't refill the tranny. A stock SVTF is well below the maximimum torque the Getrag can handle.

So, unless there is something that would void your waranty, I'd trot down to your friendly local SVT approved Ford dealer, request a transmission AND your complimentary loaner vehicle.

If there is something that would void your warranty, FI, Nitrous, extensive engine mods, then you're looking at $3,500 for the trans and $600-$1000 for the labor.

Car ownership can really suck sometimes.

well his profile says 2002 svt
so hes out of his 36/36k warranty and the 5/100 powertrain didnt come out till 03'
so if i were u look into either used trans or cough up the cash...

What is the powertrain warranty on a '02 SVT Focus? This is what you need to find out and please let us know when you do. I have an '02 as well and all these breaking tranny's are freaking me out!

That can't be right... the powertrain should ALWAYS go longer then the bumper to bumper. Damn why can't a Ford rep be here to answer these questions for sure. After all we do drive SVT's...

All 02 warranties Expired. No one apparently read my post. I dont think I would have paid 2300 for a new tranny if I had a warranty
