Horsepower

Are there any cheap lil tricks you can do to svt to get more horses or torque? I mean stuff like messing with the intake, tps, timing, and other such things.

There are a few mods that will help the overall driveability of the car and in turn...well...make it feel faster and (possibly) even make it a little quicker based on your driving skills.

I did a drop in K&N filter and it made a nice gain for like 30 bucks. Also another good mod is the shift linkage counterweight removal and it's really easy to do.

Another one is the clutch position sensor...all you do is remove it from it's holder and tape the plunger down.

I would get either a new rear motor mount (100ish) or some inserts for the current mounts. If you go with the inserts, I think they're reallllly cheap.

I have done all of these mods to my car and I have to say they really have made a difference on the way the car drives. I can shift so faster now that I really believe I have shed some time off my potential Quarter mile time.

If you want to change some ECU stuff, I would go with somebody trustworthee with a tune that is made for your car...like the predator from Tom. I know it's expensive, but other than that I don't think there's much else you can do. Though if there was, I woul dlove to do them!

Tune ($350)
Cold Air Intake (~$250 New)
Rear Motor Mount (~$100) (You can do side motor mounts too but rear is most important)
Aluminum Flywheel & Performance Clutch (~$1000-$1200 w/labor)
Counterweight Removal ($0)
Short Throw Shifter (~$70-$120 depends on where you get it)

This is of course if you wanna stay Naturally Aspirated (IE Not turbo/super)

I'm fairly sure he's asking about free mods, not parts you can buy.

Remove the silencer on your intake box. Remove the shifter counterweight. If you have traction control, you can pull out fuse #46 for better quarter mile times (don't leave it out or your ABS will be disabled). If you have 4-gauge wire laying around, you can upgrade the battery-to-frame and engine-to-frame ground wires.

TPS, timing, VCT, etc are adjusted via software, so if you have the money, definitely get a tune.
