Unhappy little exhaust smoke???

Last week I had a friend fo mine come up behind me after I passed them. I said the hell with it and down shifted , so my tach jumped up to 6 grand, flooring it. I had a sweet little jump into 5th and away I went. She then called me and told me my car was smoking. First, this was from a car noob chick and second, I know it does not smoke all the time. I just was curious is small amounts of smoke at high revs wide open normal? any response would be appreciated.

In nearly any car when you hammer on it like that you will see some smoke. Actually I believe its carbon being blown out the exhaust. Its normal, actually good for the engine. I worked at a chevy dealership and we had one of those SSR pickup sport car thingy's and the CEL came on and all it took was one of the tech to go out and stomp on it a few times and blew out a bunch of black smoke and then the CEL went away.

I figured as much, but wanted a second opinion, Thanks BMXer. I was thinking with the exaust as freeflowing as it is that it could be normal. Besides inside the car you never notice. I mainly think she was doin it to rile me up cause her little PT cruiser couldn't keep up.

It was more then likely cause you have the high flow cat and SVTs run rich as hell. No big deal mine smokes like crazy when I jump on it cause of the ORP. As long as its black smoke(black smoke=gas bluish white=oil) your fine just running a lil' richer then normal.

I regularly clean my exhaust out with a good old fashion highway on-ramp romp!
