Gas question

Hey whats up? I have kinda did a little study on my own in the past few weeks and I noticed something strange. I usuallt fill up with shell super 93 and get roughly 230 miles a tank and I got stuck in the need of fuel near a sonoco so I used their 93 octane and only got about 175 to the tank. I have not done any different if anything a few more highway miles on the sonoco tank. Is there anyreason why this happend? Also on the sonoco tank I got a bad hanging rev's issue.

Rideout

bad gas , some times at certain gas stations especially the small ones you get gas that burns really quick that you get no mileage from and sometimes they get bad gas .

was the shell straight gas and the sunoco an ethanol blend?
you'll see a decrease in milage with ethanol (e85 for example actually gives 10-18 percent less milage tha gas
gas blend with 10% ethanol will also decrease the milage.)

I've seen this discussion before, i think it was a gas milage poll, but in my experiance, (3000mi. a month for the past 11 months) different stations (size and brand) will give you different milage. my local cumberland farms (gulf) tends to get me the best milage (375 to 425 +/- per 10-12gal) when i shop shell i get slightly worse milage (350 to 360 per 10-11gal smaller station) at my local mobil (or exxon) i tend to get somewhere in the middle. my driving is mostly highway with cc on at 65mph. the mpg killers in my life are on ramps (gotta take it at 80mph), off ramps(at least 80mph), stop lights(7200rpm shifts), and anywhere else i can go stupid fast stupid quick, so more highway i do the better. I average 35+/-mpg more often than not on gulf gas, about 33+/- on mobil and about 32mpg+/- on shell. however shell is supposed to have detergents in it that clean your engine, so i tend to go there a couple times a month for the piece of mind (just like that 100k warranty i have that stops me from buying some form of FI)
