My tranny is fine (so far, *knock on wood*). But, after reading about some tranny' issues on FF, I'm wondering how much of a beating the Getrag' can really take. Any thoughts anyone?

I think it's like any other component on the car.
While the Getrag is well built, if you beat the crap out of it and don't properly maintain it,
it will fail like anthing else would.
These trannys like smooth shifting drivers, and greatly reward someone that rev-matches.
If you hammer the shifts, and slam the shifter like Superman, it's not going to last.

Yes, there were some faults with the original flywheels and clutches.
But, there is a TSB that rememdies those problems.
Most of us that have had the update have been fine ever since.

Yeah the Getrag is a great transmission, but it's the parts inside of it that Ford went with origianally. The newer stuff they used after the TSB* are much better. They went with the lowest bid on the original clutch and because of it, it cost them more money in the end from all of the TSB's they had. I can honestly say though the new clutch they went with was better than the old one. But yeah the getrag design it's self is very durable.

'cool. I'm usually pretty careful; 'meticulous about rev-matching as well. ANOTHER QUESTION: My SVTF is the '04 EAP. Would that also included the "corrected" clutch and other stuff as well? 'Just need some reassurance I guess. I'm happy otherwise.

^^^Nope.
The latest clutch TSB (linked earlier) came out after the end of the production run for the SVTF.

Refresh my memory...
Did you buy your car new or used?
If used, you can have the VIN run by the Dealer (and a couple members on this site) to see if any TSB work has been done or not.

FYI most shift fork damage is cause from trying to force the gears to change before the syncros are spun up.
