I am new, Picture, and a ?

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have been reading for a while but no real posts. I am very happy with my SVT and drive it hard all the time. I also autocross. I have talked to the "orangeSVTguy" I think.

The picture is a little old. It looks a little better now.

My question is I bought a used UDP and it is a little banged up. The keyway has a big notch pushed into the middle of the keyway. Also the middle rib has a sharp spot/notch in it. Then the back is a little beat up from the pulley puller but that should be ok. Do you think it is safe to try to use. I dont want it to be slipping of eating belts. Thanks alot

sounds like it's messed up pretty good.. For ease of mind I'd recommend getting a new one...

a pulley puller had to be used to remove it??? I've never seen a pulley stuck on the crank like that...at least not on a focus. we have some of the loosest fitting pulleys around. I can pull mine off by hand

Can you get a pic of the pulley? If you can, taht would be the best way for us to determine if something is seriously screwed up or not. From what you said so far, I would think it is not safe to use.

Also the person I bought it from was very nice so I dont think she tried to screw me. The other item I bought from her was fine. She also holds alot more weight over me on the forum lol.

No worries....to be honest, I was surpised to see any damage at all on the pulley--and didn't notice anything until I packed it up. My tech that pulled it off must have been brutal--I'll talk to him about it.

If you feel nervous about using the pulley, let me know...PM me and we'll work out a refund.

Acctually we pulled that one off. It was STUCK to the crank bad, and substantial force was used in getting it off. The only thing that worries me on that is the keyway, to be honest I didnt notice that after removal. Maybe that is a telltale as to why it was stuck on so hard. It was probably not centered all the way and someone just blasted it on with an impact or something...

Regardless, I have been putting anti-seize compound on all my pullies since wrestling with getting that one off...

It say maybe running a file in there and smoothing it out might do the trick, but I cant be certain. I doubt the thing would ever spin with a well torqued crank bolt even without a keyway (thats how Duratecs are, and come to think of it, Zetec cam gears, etc), but I couldnt be certain.
