My foci goes to Krown every season. Im in canada, the roads here are disgusting. Prob one of the most saltiest roads here too since im near Lake Ont. I take a peak under the car every now and then. To be honest, i think that if i *hadnt* taken it to get oiled, it would be falling apart, lol. IMO its worth it. I say go for it and get 'er oiled up.

What is this underbody oil treatment you speak of?

Im not sure of the exact process involved... but they basically take your car into this sealed room, spray the underbody with some kind of cleaner, a prep chemical, and they put some special oil on the entire underbody, and spray all joints and such to prevent corrosion (salt) from getting at all the exposed parts.

I'm from Pennsylvania, and the roads can get disgustingly salty here too in the winter season. Any idea how much something like this would cost? Even though my '02 ZX3 only has about 29k miles on it, it looks like the previous owner didn't take good care of it. I can immediately tell just by looking at the "lunchbox" that some rust is beginning to form.

you should be looking at a ballpark estimate of $100 or $125 I think.

I had Ford put on an underbody coating when I bought the car - it's a rubbery like substance, I don't think it's an oil? They completely coated my stock dampers and springs too which was a pain the in the butt...

It will add value to your car when you do finally decide to get rid of it also.

So yes, it'as a very good idea to get the coating.

I think you'll just end up needing a new exhaust. I don't believe they will coat the exhaust? They didn't on mine...
