resurface the dual mass flywheel

My father and brother in laws, who are professional mechanics, and own their own shop are going to help me replace my clutch.

Right now money is tight, and if possible, I would like to re-use my stock flywheel. My father in law has a new high-end machine for re-surfacing flywheels, but its operators manual has no listings for the SVT Focus's flywheel.

Has anyone had their dual-mass flywheel resurfaced? Any problems arise?

you can't resurface the dual mass flywheel, there's no way to secure it properly to a lathe so that the friction surface is exactly perpendicular to the cutting tool. you're better off dropping nearly $1000 on aftermarket clutch and flywheel. the dual mass isn't a strong design and has been known to come apart under load and grenade through the transmission

I'm actually kinda sore at Ford for leaving this problem on our doorstep. I'm 45k miles into the car, which I assume is well past any hope of having Ford cover a clutch and flywheel under warranty, and I've got the slight knocking that apparently means the flywheel is bunk. The clutch is also wearing real fast, which sounds an awful lot like a $1200-1500 repair next summer...

Oh well, pay to play, etc etc...

Replacing a clutch on a car with this low off mileage is ridiculous but what can you do. A clutch shouldn't need to be replaced until at least 100k imho.

Also guys a lighter flywheel is not always best. I had a 9.6lb Fidanza flywheel in my WRX back in the day and it made launching the car hard as hell. Lighter is not always better with a flywheel.
