I hear Denso's are the way to go, as for the coil pack and wires, Screamin Deamon coil pack with the Livewires (the only ones you can use with it) You can gap your plugs to .065 and the wires can withstand 1400 deg. Fahrenheit.

well, we put ngk's on my wife's focus and the car did NOT like them. we wound up switching to the stock ones. on the flip side, i have the denso iridiums and i'm happy with them. i also have ford racing wires and they seem to do the job well.

What do you actually gain by changing the coil and plugs?

By chainging the coil and wires you can re-gap the spark plugs and thus give yourself a bigger spark, which in turn can lead to improved gas milage and some people have reported some performance gains

I tried different plugs on a Duratec 2.3 (Ford non-Focus) back in the summer due to some pinging issues. Tried different heat ranges, iridiums, NGK, Bosch, etc, etc. Performance wise - no difference. Iridiums are suppose to last longer but who wants to keep a plug in an aluminum head for 120k miles. Personally, I've always had good luck with NGKs being much better than OEM but I couldn't tell a difference. Could be that the 2.3 non-stamped plugs are iridiums and the funky number cross reference shows they're actually made by NGK. I eventually stuck some Autolite double plats in the engine since they toned down the pinging a little and performance was the same.

Then Ford announces a TSB in August for the pinging...

I also swapped out the OEM plugs on a 2000 Zetec Focus recently. Just used Autolite double plats.

I would not WASTE money on the Screaming Demon (POS) setup.

With the stock coil and FRPP wires you can run the same exact gap as you do with the SD setup... the SD setup is a joke. I took one off of my car when the SD setup could NOT produce enough spark to keep the engine running when under boost (and a .035 gap)

We put the stock stuff back on and I run 19psi daily with PLENTY of spark.
