Made the jump to diesel.

And WOW!

The MKv jetta TDI's are nice and torquey... but I will miss the svtf.
The things I miss the most are: HIDs, foglights ( I always try to pull the lightknob when I turn it on...), and my trusty 6 speed tranny :(

At about the worst time too. Diesel is what $2.80-$2.90 a gallon now and unleaded is $2.20. At least for the time being. Are prices the same in Canada?

Good luck with the Vdub. At 40mpg I think the price change from gas to diesel will be negated.

40 Mpg? my bud who has a nice TDI gets at the low end 48Mpg with strictly city driving. On the freeway we once maxed on a drive of abotu 6 houts 67Mpg.

I used to give him crap too... but there is NO WAY the SVT burning premium which costs almost the same as Diesel will ever equal the cost of fueling a TDI. And I do love the low end on his TDI, that freakshow just pulls (until you hit like 4000RPM ;))

Congrats on the TDI, its a solid purchase for now and into the future! Diesel is the way of the past and the way of the future, we just got distracted here in the US with Gassoline hehe.

I honestly think you took a major step down in dependabilty. VW especially jettas are known for tons of infamouse electrical and tons and tons of small mechanical gremlins. Even compared to the SVT.

Not a bad car but a very lack luster one in performance, but diffrent needs warrent a diffrent car I gues. Congrats.

$2.20 a gallon???? Are you talkin' premium or regular???? Man So. Cal. sucks, we're still paying $2.64 a gallon for premium here.
