I can't remember the year for changeover from bulb & socket to LED. (or if the SVT ever had bulb & socket like some others)

SVT has it's own electro-luminescent back light, that's a separate deal.

Yes the faces are electro-luminescent and the needles are lit with 194 bulbs.

The trick for flickering SVT faces is to turn the dimmer down a hair, new (junkyard) headlight switch fixed it for me permanently.

If that doesn't do it then the inverter is going out, it's intergrated in the aux. oil cluster circuit. There are ways to bypass it and use a separate aftermarket inverter.

Could you expand on that. Is there a how-to or a link to this?

I haven't seen a how to, but I've heard of people doing it.

A plain inverter like this will work.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-EL...bc38d3&vxp=mtr

I think this is would be the easiest way. With the lens off the aux oil cluster cut the red wires on the left from and connect them to the new inverter output. This will illuminate the aux gauges.

The main cluster has two red wires at the very top, splice these into the new inverter for illumination. (Take care not to break any of these wires from the sheets.)

Then power the inverter to a parking light circuit wire make it all work. (Whatever wire on back of the aux cluster that powered the old inverter will work.)

Wouldn't it be easier to purchase a new oil pressure cluster? Or am I missing something here?

It's discontinued, but you can try a new (used) one too.

The aftermarket inverter is $10 fix on the plus side. And you don't have to track one down from a seller that may not want to separate it from the main cluster.

I understand its cheaper to go the way of the other inverter, I suppose I just try to keep the electrical as close to stock as possible to avoid any later gremlins that seem to arise from cutting this or splicing that if you know what I mean.
