Emission Light On?

Yo! Just got my Automatic SPI yesterday. Drove it around pretty good all day. All of a sudden I feel my car slip [wouldnt go into gear]. Thought it wasnt nothing, untill it happened three more times. It seems to only happen when I start from a stop sign or something. WHen it get into gears it sort jerks like a stick. Believe me it seems kool but only after having a car after a day, I dont really want my car to be ****ed up. Anyways after I experiance this, I noticed my EMISSION LIGHT is on. I checked the manual and checked the gascap and whatnot like it says. And im wondering what does emission have to deal with transmission slip? I figure it might be fluid, I check the transmission fluid its all fine. What could be my problem and how can I fix it? I figure I might be becuase I didnt let the car really warm up before I took off, you know. If someone could help please... Right now the car is sitting, hoping that the light will go away and the transmission will be good again.

That's a new one. I guess the emission light is on for a reason, but to make the trans. act up too is odd. It could be that the engine is running poorly, and causing the pressures to drop in the trans, making it slip. I have a 2k SE, and I flog that poor car to death and haven't had any problems like what you said. If you just got it and it was from a dealer, it should have some kind of warranty. Wish you were close, I have a code scanner and we'd get it figured out.

Something just crossed my mind. The Focus has a returnless fuel system that needs the cap to be tight for the system to work correctly. That was why you got the light. I'd take it for a spin. If it continues to act up, then you've got issues and need to have it serviced.

Yeah still under warranty first thing in the morning going to get it check out. Im thinking the stupid dealership put too much tranny fluid in, and when I ran it pretty hard it just started acting up. Since it would slip, tranny would get hotter, and thus the emission [check engine] light would come on. So thats what Im thinking happened. Just hope they fix my shit fast, cuz thats kinda bs that a car I just bought acts up, you know.

That shaking...is it just once or twice, or is it multiple, rapid, front-to-back shakes? That's what I had; the culprit was a bad EGR sensor. Good news is, the light came on, so that means an error code got logged, and the dealer/repair dude should be able to look at the code and figure out pretty quickly what's wrong.

Just because they call it an idiot light doesn't mean it was your fault.

This is bull, took it to a well known and used Ford repair shop. They took my car and now leaving it there for a day. Guy calls me mid day says theres a transmission problem, and a wiring problem. He says the are still working on pinpointing the exact problem but thats what he can tell me so far. But he said he wont know exactly till tomorrow, then after that check to see if warranty covers it and they will fix it. That is so stupid, first of all the computer detected something obviously [check engine light came on] they could just tap into tht figure out wtf is wrong and fix the damn problem becuase I just bought the car. But no, its gonna take a day or so to just diagnosis the problem then who knows how long they will take. I think its just too much tRAN FLUID and the check engine light came on becuase it was too hot. ARGH!
