You may be experiencing a warning sign of the common valve drop issue on SPI's. I'd start to look into rebuilt heads that have fixed the valve seat problem, if you haven't already.

Would that cause a misfire on every cylinder? I got p0316 code which is a multiple cylinder misfire, i do have a ticking sound when warm but it sounds like just 1 valve.

If I remember right it's generally cylinder #4 that experiences most of the dropped valves. Can throw a misfire code with this as well.

Is dropped valve seat inevitable

9 months before mine went it started doing it...

in the end the last few weeks of it living, if i hosed off the engine tell the temp gage went down it would keep living...
the last run was a 2+ hour drive non stop on the first 65F day of the year
and i did'ent have a hose with water to cool it off...thus on start up it blew sky high in 10 sec

using water is not a fix, it just puts off the end story temporarily.
