some newbie questions

Hey guys, I've been reading your forums for a few months now and just have gotten around to signing up.
Anyway i have a few questions since i'm a rookie.
I've noticed that it's reccomended to change out the throttle body on the spi and then use a zx3 cai. I was wondering how hard is it to change the throttle body? Also how does this conversion compare to the cai that focus sport offers?
Also i was wondering if it was better to swap my atx out for a manual or would it just be better to chip my atx?

Also if you guys have any other beginners mods you can come up with i'd love to hear them. I know i'm not gonna be setting drag records, but with a little more hp i think this car would be great.
Thanx for your help, can't wait to hear your opinions.

Swaping out the T/B is not hard. The must time consuming part is grinding the trottle cable bracket so that it can recieve the larger intake. I did mine with a Dremel, took like an hour and a half to get it just right. Now I went with the Volant intake, but the Focus Sport intake is just as good. As for changing trannies, I would stay with the atx and just fet the SCT chip from Focus Sport that offers a shift improver for the atx trannies. One others modification that would help you out is up grading the exhaust system. Once I get my tax return this is my next project on the car, gettin some race headers and the Focus Sport stealth exhaust. I hope this helps and welcome to the site.

Welcome to the boards, anyway the first mods for any car should be intake and exaust what I was told was a simple saying "air in - air out". About swaping your tranny it is easier to just run a beefed up auto than try to swap, as much as I love to shift it would take to much and money. Here are few sites www.focus-central.com and www.focussport.com, and one for just tricks about your car is www.focushacks.com. Enjoy and good luck
