Post Race Header

Hello guys...I just installed my race headers and had a few questions for u. Do u think I will have to put up a heat shied BC those pipes get offly hot. And I don't get the whole O2 sensor thing. Is this something I need or could you possibly tell me what's the point of this device.

~Thanks

Im sure you will be fine without a heat shield. I dont have one on mine. You need the mil eliminator or a chip. They will disable the check engine light that comes on. Since you removed the cat. The light will come on without one of those items installed. Or you could be cheap. And, just drive around with a nice looking engine light being on all the time.

The reason why the engine light will come on is because your sensor will read an abnormality in emission levels because of the elimination of the cat. You'll need an o2 cheater or a chip in order to disable that sensor and keep it from throwing up a cel.

My check engine light come on 3 month after the installation of my race headers.

A O2 Cheater was the solution !

The O2 sensor reads the emissions boefore and after the cat in order to keep your emissions i in check. Since you don't have a cat any more, both of the O2 sensors are reading the same levels, hence the cel.

Mine just goes on and off randomly. I forget its on until I hit a dark road at night and you can't help but notice this bright ass orange light. I'll be getting my superchip soon though, so I can put up with it until then.
