SPI Intake

Hi my name is Denis Logie, and I just wanted to ask for some helping shopping for intakes for the 2.0 L SPI motor. I have seen an intake for this engine on focus sport but I want to know if there are more cold air intake systems out their for this engine. If you have any suggestions or feedback plz let me know.

The best one is the Volant Intake. I have one on my SPI and the performance gain is remarkable, the only thing is is that it is made for the zetec motor and you would need a larger throttle body (60mm). But if you got the throttle body any zetec aftermarket intake system will fit on the SPI. I hope this helps you and welcome to the site.

listen to blueoval, best way to put an intake on an SPI is with the 60mm TB. the zetec gets all the good intakes. and yeah, volant is generally considered the best. though FS is a good intake as well. and i have heard many a good thing about AEM. also, if you get a CAI, consider a bypass valve to protect against hydrolock.

welcome to the boards, and enjoy your SPI....

nice to see you back urn. Does the bypass valve form AEM work with the volant or just the AEM intake?

You don't need it with the Volant.

The AEM CAI filter is above 6 inch off the ground... It's why you need a bypass valve

I was wondering b/c sooner, rather than later, I was planning on getting an EVO style cf hood. With a opening that looks like its over the intake and the design of the volant intake(open on top) I just wouldn't won't to be driving and be in a rain storm and having the engine hydrolock.

hey I am getting the same hood and I am just going to get a heat shield from pep boys and put it over the filter so the air can get to it but not the rain.

Never thought of a heat shield. Now I just have to save the money to get the hood.
