Did ford leave the cylinders too rough?

So I'm working on my wife's focus that dropped a valve seat at 138,000. I can still see the crosshatch pattern faintly in the cylinder walls. The walls do seem to be glazed and there are signs of minor blow-by at the tops of the cylinders. Does this mean they left too rough a finish on the cylinders? The Toyota I took the head off of at 155,000 had no signs of blow-by and no visible crosshatch. Now as far as the blow-by, it could be that the ford got a little dirt in it, or went a little long on oil changes, but the fact that there is still a visible crosshatch pattern doesn't seem right to me at 138,000.

140 looks and no answers? Nobody knows? How bout a guess. That was just NOT what I expected to see when I got the head off!!! Anybody else still see the crosshatch pattern when they pulled the head?

it doesn't surprise me. I don't see anything wrong with that. it may have even been refinished at one time from the same issue.

I did consider the possibility of it having been redone once before.

Having crosshatch left is generally considered to be a good thing, it is never bad. Means engine not wearing fast. I look specifically for it.

The crosshatch used on today's engines is far from rough. One reason why they last longer.
