junk yard search

all spi guys/gals. can ya do a junk yard search in your area for busted escort gt's. 86-91 i believe are the required years. and if found, steal(buy) the headers and cam gear. and what ever else will improve the spi. i will buy the header and cam gear, and i am sure others on here will also. we can make a mini network. THE SEARCH IS ON!!

I have an extra GT header from an escort if you want it. Send me a PM and a price quote, I bought it and ended up going with the FC race headers.

Just to clearify, what years will the Escort GT header fit perfectly with a 2001 Focus SE SPI? I believe i found one 88 or 91. Also, what is the average price to pay?

Thanks,
Randy

The header will fit with some slight modification. waterboy and TXFO have done it themselves, it's not hard but still requires a little work and some knowledge of welding.

Waterboy will know from personal experience for the welding, but I believe that you have to basically take a section out of the part of the header where it will match with the off-road pipe to the exhaust. I haven't looked under the car to match it up, but it needs to be cut short if I remember correctly. Definately needs some modification. If there is an exhaust shop in your area, they will probably be able to do it, just make sure it is reputable and they are not doing the welding where it is basically bending the parts (can't remember the techinical term )

Hope this helps

The GT header is a full race header just like what is available from Focus Central, but you have to modify the GT race header to shorted it up a bit and also take the Flang from your stock cat pipe and weld it onto the race header so that it will bolt up to the stock flex pipe. The GT header is no where near a shorty header. If you need to have a cat in your state you can always get the GT header and then weld an after market cat into the exuast system after the flex and before the first muffler.
