SPI Cooling Fan Resistor
FYI, if any of you SPI owners ever need to change the cooling fan resistor which is picture below, U have to take the fan out to get to the resistor. Some foci can just unclip theirs but in my car (spi) I had to take the fan out from the bottom and unscrew a bolt holding the resistor in. I didnt take the fans all the way out, just unclipped the assembly, disconnected a few plugs and dropped it on the bottom and jacked the car up a bit so i could fit, and unscrew the nut and remove the resistor then put new one in. Really simple. Hope this helps some peeps.

Does this mean your SPI engine had overheated? And if so, did not drop a valve seat?
That would give us SPIers some hope.

Mine wasnt overheating, it was doing something weird like whenever the fan kicked on the idle would drop and make the car run worse then it already does. When i started a thread about that people kept telling me it was the fan resister so i finally replaced it and now i dont notice it doing that anymore. My spi has over 119,000 miles already and no valve seat drop thankfully.

Cooling fans .... problem?
Hello - I pulled what I believe is the Cooling fan resistor.

Fans turn on when A/C on.

Do not seem to turn on when idling. Dashboard Temp gauge is at halfway.

Any idea of problem?

I pulled the Fan Control Resistor .... how to test it?

Voltmeter, the ohm very low, in short if it's got continuity it's OK. The connector melts is all, cannot carry the amps. The actual coiled piece of wire will never go bad, I simply gutted melted part and threw mine back on with different bigger connectors. Easiest $60 I ever made.

So if I get an Ohms is still good?

Another Q: Thoughts on rough idling when stopped and "in gear". Pop into neutral and rough idling resolves. Any ideas?

No that's not what I said, if you got 10,000,000 ohms that would be an 'ohm reading' but part would be junk. Read it again. LOW, ONE OR TWO............

Another A: engine mounts, most likely passenger side one.

As for the motor mount, hints on figuring out if it is shot?

Perfect part throw it back in. The driver side and dogbone mounts can be pulled and look for torn rubber while flexing part. Pass side look for ruptured top or oil leaking, after that change it. You can put your hand around base rubber and grab firmly, if noise/vibration drop then rubber under aluminum ring is torn loose. Pull part in that case too and look.
