free horse

heres an easy way to gain 1 to 2 horse

your air box has two halves. the half above the filter and the half below. take the bottom half out, and drill any where between 15-25 holes around .5" in size. be sure to drill in spots where the new holes will not get covered up.

MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT DRILL ANYWHERE ABOVE THE AIR FILTER, IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR ENGINE.

also, feel free to disgard that stupid sound supressor. it will give you a nice hole and nice sound.
any questions let me know.

I did that a few years ago. it IS a cheap mod that does net a few ponies. It doesn't come near the improvement that a CAI does, but the price is sure good. Thanks for the reminder! On mine I drilled the bottom with 1" holes until it looked like Swiss Cheese.

Or you can get yourself a cheap cone filter and some duct tape and tape the damn cone filter over the existing tubing after your maf and disregard the stock intake. Not only will u imrpove sound but a small performance gain. hehe thought i add this in

duct tape? *cough* stupid idea *cough*
Just get a hose clamp instead. They are like 5 bucks and will stand up to heat, vibration and anything else that duct tape wont. You dont want to be putting duct tape on something that important, save it for lawnmowers and things that you dont rely on everyday.

i was thinking about just throwing a cone on there, but i wasnt sure how to attach one with the way the MAFS is connected to the airbox. I would need a firm sort of tube to attach the two. do you know where i could find a cheap one?

also- i had an idea on bringing colder air into the car, and i'd like some input on how well you all think this would work.
the air hose bringing the air into the air box could be removed and replaced with a flexible tubing which would then in turn be placed behind the grill of the front end. this would have sort of a ram air effect? or is it pointless?

Question gutting the cat

also- i recently heard of another form of freeing up horsepower. gutting the cat? anyone heard of this, basicly you remove the contents of your cat to creat a more free flowing exhaust. is this possible? i have the impression that the shape of the cat may cause a damper on performance. it is built so that it contains exhaust not to release it. has anyone done this?

Ladies and Gentlemen! LENTLEMEN! for the cone filter, you don't need to duct tape it, but you can get one and just force the f'ing thing over the Mass flow, I did it, I noticed a big difference in performance and sound...I think it's awsome...I have pictures of it at the website in my sig, please feel free to look, I will update the pictures as I do more mods to my car tho...I'll keep you posted on the website http://www.freewebs.com/pro_customs_auto

Which K+N filter do you add to the filter side of the MAF? Anyone have a part number?
