I need a rear subframe too since mine is rusted to crap and my rear alignment is all screwed up. But I read that a Mazda 3 rear suspension is the same as a Focus. So can the Mazda 3's subframe bolt right up to a Focus? So I can broaden my search for a rear subframe.

Some parts are similiar but different, like the rear sway bar & end link mounts. There should be Foci's in the yards.

Yeah, they're all rusted like mine.

Subframe Interchange questions.

Sorry to bring this post from the dead, but did this prove to be true? All the rear subframes and suspension components are the same from 2000 to 2011? I'm a Subaru guy building a 2000 ZX3 mostly gravel/sometimes tarmac rally car. I'm not too familiar with these cars at all. Learning quick. Open to tips, tricks, advice. Anything at all.

I really just want to know whats compatible. What parts from which years are better and why.

MkII '08-'11 for bigger brakes, the only little difference in the suspension comes there as the later cars have slightly larger bolts through the arms holding on the stub axles.

Look for a version with the rear sway bar, no mounts on the ones without. Why add mounts when you can pick a sub frame with them?

I'm just trying to eliminate the rear drum brakes when its time. They are okay for now but obviously want something better, and need to add a hydro hand brake eventually. I can't imagine the 08+ ones have brakes that require anything bigger than a 15 inch wheel.

We are in the process of testing it all out now. Looking into buying another zx3 parts car or anything with the same motor/trans set up.

Whats the Mazda 3 thing I'm hearing? Anyone know the compatibility with those? Or is that a can of worms I dont want to open up?
