Sensor replacement resistance Mod

"GIVE YOUR CAR THAT HP YOU ALWAYS WANTED!!"

thats a tall order......

i came across this ebay auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33597

for a resistor, that attaches to some sort of sensor.

I was wondering what kind of opinion a informed person might
have on one of these inexpenve mods? I am intrested in exactly what it does, what if any there are any negative drawbacks to this(emissions, fuel economy??)

"HIGHEST HORSEPOWER GAIN PER DOLLAR!"
"gain up to 20 Horsepower"

those are tall orders.....

Scott

This mod is actually a resistor that is used to jump the sensor on the MAF sensor. You will not see any diffrence in HP Or MPG either, as this is actually a $.10 resistor from radio-shack that he is selling for almost $10. Save you money and buy some real mods...for the true diffrence.

I tried one for shits-and-giggles and it did impove performace, but at a huge loss of fuel economy. To the tune of 50 miles to the tank. What it does is fool the MAF into thinking that the incoming air is much cooler, so then the ECU compensates for the colder air by richening up the fuel/air mix. The ECU soon learns to overcome this mod. Some guys have taken it a step further and used a rheostat and a toggle switch so that you can control where and how much resistance you get.
