17" Wheels

Ok, I lack in the suspension department as I have a question that is prolly basic and easily answered. In order to install 17" wheels, what do i need to do with the suspension? Thanx.

Depends on tires. I have 17" Kazera KZ-T w/ 215x45x17 tires. The stock system works fine... but there is a small gap between the tires and the wheels. Not bas though at all. The tires rub only when I hit a dip in the road while going kind of fast. The car bounces a bit after the dip and I will get just 1 slight rub from one of my tires. This hardly ever happens anyway. The look of the 17" rims compared to my 15" stocks is night and day! I love them! Do ot go for 18" rims, they LOOK too big for the Focus.

I believe the SPI has stock 13"...I could be wrong. I was thinking about 16's or 17's depending on cost and a few other details.

Best tire sizes to get. 205-45 17. Thats of course if you go with 17in wheels. If you got 215-40-45. Those just throw off your speedo and slow down your car. Those are meant for svts. I think even if, I had an svt myself. I would throw on 205-45 to save some weight and get better acceleration.

stock SPIs should have 14" or 15" wheels with hub caps. as others have said, you should not have nay probs on the stock suspension with 17s (unless you like to drive around with 3 fat guys in your back seat... lol)

but tires are important too.

check out the suspension forum for more information.

My stock 2002 SPI SE sedan came with 15" rims. I made the switch to 17" 215/45/17 with no problems. All focuses can use the same rim/tire combo. If Ford put a 17" on the SVT then that is all the proof you need for what will fit. I have seena Focus with 18" rims and I'd have to say the rim looks too big for the car.

I am going for 17's definately. Saving money now for 17's, exhaust, headlamps, and tail lights. Will add more as time progresses. I agree with the 18's, they're too big for the focus...and I won't put a body kit on it so it won't look lowered so 17's are big enough in my eyes...I just want to get rid of the steel wheels and the ever-crackable wheel covers.
