Fuel Filter Location

'01 SE. Trying to find where the damn fuel filter is located. Waterboy says its in the engine compartment secured with a bolt. The only thing I could find was a line marked caution fuel flamable, which I assume is the fuel line??? It's about half way on the drivers side towards the fire wall, but no

Now there is a little round silver thing in the middle of this line. I'm assuming this is the fuel filter? If so maybe I got the wrong replacement. I got Purolator #F65277. Could someone please confirm this information.

Thanks so much!!!

I must defend myself here. I have never told anyone the filter in in the engine compartment. What you saw in there was your fuel pressure regulator.

Your filter is just in front of your passenger rear wheel and towards the middle of the car. First, you need to pull the car in and jack it up. Use a jackstand please. Then start your car (please do this in an open area)and trip the inertia switch with a small, flat blade screwdriver. the inertia switch is located behind the passenger kick panel. You can access it by removing the little tab looking thing snapped into the kick panel. Let the car run until it dies. Try it a few more times. Now slide under the car and use a 7 or 8 mm socket to remove the mount. Then take a small flat blade screwdriver and slide up the tabs that retain the filter. Have a rag handy as gas will still be in the lines and filter. Disconnect the filter from the lines and slide it out of the retainer. Note the arrow direction. Insert the new fuel filter mount and into the lines, making sure the arrow is going the same way as the old filter. snap the retainers back down to lock the filter in. Reinstall the filter and mount. Reset the inertia switch and key the car a few times to pressurize the system. Check for leaks. if none, let the car down and go for a ride.

Good luck,
Jim
