Cold Air intake Questions?

I have just purchaced a bomZ long cold air intake from a retailer on ebay
and i was wondering a few things?

I live in Edmonton Alberta, it gets from +30 C in the summer to - 35 C in the winter, WIll the extrme cold negatively affect my stock spi engine with this intake?

Also i have heard that there is potential for drawing in water in heavy rain or puddles with an intake like I have purchaced. Would it be worth my while to purchace a water blocking valve ?

Any other tips on CAI's for my engine type would be appreciated!!!(other inexpensive upgrades)

cold air=more power. that's the purpose of the cai. so no.

bypass will decrease the power greatly. so all in all, you may get 1 hp. so no.

the bomz sucks. should have got the fs or aem.

Bomz is definatly not the greatest intake out there, but for the SPI it is better then stock, from what i have heard.

As for a bypass valve, if you get a lot of standing water in your area it would be a good investment, IMO. you usually wont have any problems unless the end of the intake is pretty much complety summerged in water. as for HP loss. i saw some info on the AEM bypass valve that says you will lose about 1 hp, but if you get alot of standing water, i personally think that its worth it.

I live in Edmonton as well, and I bought the Steeda Short Ram, its not hot enough here to need a cold air intake...its below 15 celcius 8 months of the year...get a short ram and put your worries to rest. I doubt you would be able to tell the difference b/w a short ram and a CAI.
