SPI Compatiability

Okay, guys, this is like my third post in like two days, so please be patient with me. I plan on doing alot to my Focus, but as I surf this site, I see alot about Zetecs. I have an SPI and I want to purchase an intake, but I am so confused about what type to get and more importantly what will fit my car. I have researched it on other posts on this site, and still lost can anyone out there give a novice a helping hand?

if you get a larger throttle body (60mm) you can use any intake made for the ztec. if you plan to just add the intake, you havr to search for an spi one becase the stock throttle body is smaller than that of the zetec. ice man makes a spi intake, i do not know who else off hand. keep searching and hanging out in the spi forum. all the info is arround.

Firstly the focussport cool flo will work with your spi. Its compatable with svt zectec and spi. That intake uses the STOCK tubing so all is well. If you can get a tb while your at it. Get it asap. If not, just wait it out. I got my intake without that and didnt relaize what, I was missing. The stock tb is sooooooooooooooooooo tiny. As for gains. Alot of people make it sound like its going to shoot ya down the street. All it is, is for BETTER acceleration. Also with a bigger tb. Your gonna get more engine noise and exhaust noise. I didnt realize how much louder it would be. But it sounds really nice. With the udp. Thats a good buy also. However, if you like your ac. Dont get it. Your ac will not be as cold. But for me, the gains where worth it to add that. And I to have an spi. Im actually almost done with mine. I got a cam gear sittin in my room. Waiting to get that put in and tuned. Then chip headers, orp and custom flex pipe and im done with bolt ons.

you can buy a intake for a ztech and just push the boot that attaches to th TB down a little more and then tighten it there if you dont want to get a TB yet.

First, a 60mm TB will not increase HP, but it will make a noticable differance in throttle responce.

Second, I have never heard of a zetec TB fitting an SPI, so i would be weary of that, unless you have seen it first hand. If you have pictures you can share focusin that would be greatly appreciated.

a UDP is an Underdrive crank pulley. Basically it is the pulley that drives the accessories in your car (like the AC) and with the smaller pulley they take less power. You will see an improvment in throttle responce and power all the way through the powerband. additionally, some people have said it effects how cold the AC blows, so you might want to keep that in mind.

also, when looking at SPI parts make sure to check out www.myfordperformance.com
