top speed

My speedo reads 140 and i was wondering can a focus even get to 140 with the stock motor without turbo/sc but with some mods

SPi is goverened at 108 also. as NR said, you do need a chip if you want to go faster. I honestly do not know how fast you can get with just a chip, but if you decide to try it, you probably need to upgrade your tires. there is a reason these cars are goverened where they are.

this questions can best be answered in the Wheels, Tires, Brakes & Suspension forum

i dont know enough about tires to recommend a specific brand. but if you plan to go fast, make sure you check the tires rating.

Umm... don't expect to go 140 with the spi motor even with a chip. You have to have enough torque for the motor to be able to push you to 140 and the spi doesn't have it.

As for your tire question check the speed rateing on them, Z rated tires seem to be the choice I belive they are rated for speeds in excess of 125.
