Why don't they go all the way and go back to old Ford thinking "You can have any color you want, so long as it's black."

I'd like to see how many of those sales are to individuals, and how many of those are to rental leases. As far as I know, no rental company rents hatches.

The fact that they're redesigning the car already kinda makes me nervous. Ford can't seem to settle on anything! Honda only re-designs their cars every 5 years....this is the 3rd focus re-design since 2004 it seems (right...?). I hope the coupe is a nice looking car, because if it is then we have potential for a new SVT Focus body

OK - about sales by bodystyle..

the 2007 Focus production guide calls for the following production mix:
16% ZX3
8% ZX5
8% Wagon
the rest is sedan.

For the first half of 2006 MY Ford sold about 17k units to Fleets 16k of that to Rental fleets. We ca nassume al of those were sedans.

Total sales for that period were 70k units (incl fleets)

So let's do the math:

from 70k sold units:
15% or 11,200 were Hatches ZX3
8% or 5,600 were ZX5's
8% or 5,600 were ZxW's

What we have left is 47600 units sold as sedans. From those, 17k were fleet vehicles - which leaves 30k sedans sold to humans.

To recap:
we have
30.6k Sedans sold to humans in 6 months
17 sedans sold to fleet.
11.2k 3doors
5.6k 5doors
5.6k Wagons

Sorry guys.

Hey thanks Igor, big time......... I agree with what PIO said, I guess I have only been paying attention to the hatches, but I seriously don't see much for sedans here. I'll have to open my eyes a bit more.

Personally, I think that new coupe will look really good as soon as someone shoves a V8 RWD conversion into it.

do not forget - you are in Canadia ... you all have a very different taste in cars ..

however - alas - you sell less cars than some US states - so manytimes your opinion goes unheard amongthe big biys..

the figures above are for US.

Call me crazy but I think it is a Fusion redesign, and we will see the MK2 in 08. At least that's what the dude from Boeing is saying.

Yeah there's tons of sedans around here. The few hatches I do see are usually SVT's. The sedans are popular with the old folks.
