Broken Camshaft??

Hey guys....I was having some problems with my SVT such as it wasn't accelerating even when flooring the pedal, oil was leaking somewhat, engine was getting really hot, and smoke coming from out the dipstick. Its still at the Ford dealership right now getting fixed. They tell me its a broken camshaft? Does that seem right?? I dont know much about internal engine parts. From my friends and a buddy that works for BMW as a mechanic the acceleration makes sense but not with the oil. Any suggesstions? I am picking up the car today sometime but I am afraid that its something else. The cars intake + exhaust combo was lounder than normal but no nocking or anything from the engine. Just talked to another friend and he said I wouldnt of been able to drive it as far as I did that a broken camshaft? ::confused::

I think it would take alot of stress to break a camshaft. But then again I could be wrong

IMO, you would not be able to even start the car if you were to actually break a cam, or if you did it would not be drivable(you would have at least one dead cylinder)...did they possibly mean that you wore one of the lobes round??

^^^ I agree.
No way you're going to be driving any car with a broken camshaft.

I totally agree with all of you. Thats why i made the post. I did drive the car at LEAST 30 miles from when I noticed it sounding/acting different. All the Ford dealership told me was "we believe you blew a camshaft" they ordered it and are installing it as we speak I believe. It just doesn't make sense though. I am def going to question it when I go to pick it up.

Maybe they meant CAMSHAFT SERVO? As in the VCT??? The smoking still sounds odd though, was it really bad?

Maybe oil was leaking out of the servo/solenoid really bad an leaking all over the place including the exhaust and smoking near the dipstick? Just a random theory...

Btw, do you have blue inserts? If so you have the same SVT as me! haha
