so how do I get an armrest console for my MTX 01 zx3 that came stock w/o one. Can i just buy one from a salvage yard and replace the old one? will it fit right? what year models cross over?

just about every single one of them will fit...
unless it's an 2005+
Even then... I am not sure of the changes done to the console...
It very well could fit.

But yea 00-04, all interchange unless someone wants to prove me wrong.

I removed the arm-rest, and I have actually no regrets. It doesn't even bother me, as I never try to flip it down as if it were still there.

Now, to fiberglass, or modify to make it look less crappy...

That's strange that it didn't come with one, unless it was pulled by someone that had the car before you. But you can go to the junk yard and pick one up I'm pretty sure they all fit but just in case look for a ZX3. I know that will fit if it's 00-04.

well the armrest console is different than the non-armrest console. If you plan on swapping to a console with an armrest, you'll need everything from the front of the e-brake ---> back. If that's what you are referring to. If you get your hands on both the armrest, and the part the armrest screws into (the housing I guess you'd call it..the one with one single cup holder in the back), then it should fit without trouble.

I drive an 02 ZTS that I modded the arm rest to remove it, yet still keep a small storage area. If u check out my photo gallery u can see the pic there. No sense in wasting server space to post the same pic twice.
And before u all say anything, its a daily driver, and a self-painted center consel so the there are scratches cause it was done a couple years ago and i'm to lazy to fix it up.
And the fabric is soft and feels good which is why I choose it.

Just gets in the way with the SVT 6-speed.... I thought I would want one when I bought the car.. and asked the dealer about it.. he said the SVT won't take one... (without swapping out the whole thing) because of the shifter... he was right... it would have drove me nuts trying to get down in 6th with my elbow bumping that...
