I wonder if the Ecotec has the same amount of low-end torque that the Zetec (and most 4-cylinder Ford/Mazda engines) have. I think that if you could get the drop on him you'd probably be able to beat him until you hit high speed (100+ MPH.)

i raced a cobalt a couple days ago and destroyed it by 2 cars. i didnt have the bottle on. just make sure you get a good launch and dont spin the tires and get good shifts and youll be fine. they are boats.

They arent bad cars, truthfully I'll say he will probably win or be near even. Im still waiting to find me an SS supercharged to run, im guessing also a close race.

my friend has a cav with the 2.4 ecotec in it. its not bad in the take off but after 1st-2nd gear its good bye cav. but im modded and hes not. in the 1/4 i ran a 15.4 he ran a 16.9. but IMO the cav is 100% chick car no top-end and handles like a boat. only real cobalt is the SS but they still have 3 differant ones of those the two SS non supercharged i can beat but the SS superchardged one will eat me alive!! but even the SS dont handle as well as a stock foci but its a drivers race all ya got to do is get him off the line and you should beat him all day long. any time you play catch up you tend to over shift and make calls so make him do that and say not bad for a foci with less power lol
