Shifter shaking in third gear

I've noticed my new focus shifter shaking in third gear. It shakes moreso when I'm at lower rpms and steadily decreases as the rpms approach 3 grand. Has anyone else noticed this or have any comments?

From what I've gathered, this seems to be fairly normal. The Focus trannys aren't known to be the smoothest. The Getrag however, is quite a bit smoother than the five speed.

My '02 SVTf with 11k miles has a very tight shift lever, never shakes. Does the lever actually vibrate back and forth? Seems like a wrong thing. Is the shift linkage loose? Does it just rattle around or is something actually moving it? If it was happening to me, I would see about a fix, I think.

In my car you can just feel a vibration if your hand is on the shifter but it doesnt actually visibly move that I've ever noticed. I know that shifters will vibrate some while in gear and when its a longer shifter like in my dads Ranger of the ones in UPS trucks it is actually visible movement. Thats why I dont worry about it.

Every car I've owned that's been a manual transmission has had some amount of shifter movement. I would expect it's normal, seeing as that the shifter is physically linked to the transmission (or transaxle, in this case) and that in turn is obviously connected to the engine, which *surprise* vibrates a lot when running. So, you're getting the engine's movement transferred all the way up the shift linkage. My Focus is pretty vibration-free, but for example, my Gramma's old Mazda pickup has a direct-linkage type of shifter (metal shafts, rather than cable-operated like the Focus) that vibrates like hell all the time, in any gear. I sure wouldn't be concerned about it...
