2800ish is not quite as good as I would have hoped from the size of the car, but considering it shares much of its platform and development with the larger cruze it might not be quite as light as it should be based on the external size.

From the LT manual sedan to the LTZ the range for the sonic at base curb weight was around 2727 to just over 2800 at the base level. I don't know as I haven't been around long enough yet to know if you have the sedan or the hatch, but the hatch weighs slightly less to start from 2690 lb for the LS manual to 2776 for the LTZ manual.

The Cruze is over 3100 lbs though, so it is still a fair margin smaller weight wise. Close to 10% lighter than the cruze.
