I would go with a low grade acid based cleaner. Enough to remove some corrosion, but not too much to melt the finish on the wheel.

I agree on the 215/50/16 tire, 215/45/16 would give it a little more of the "low profile" look. Not sure that's necessary on 16" wheels though.

That's gonna look sweet with the blue. I've always been a sucker for the sonic blue. Such a awesome color.

im running 205/50/16 now and want 215/50/16 and those set of wheels are same size as my asa wheels are. with my drop i dont think theres any issue with that size. its only +1 size over stock.

Good morning peoples. Don't freeze off any body parts on your way into works. First morning post of this cold as balls day. In before Jordan can say he's "in before people blah blah blah".

PS - only car worth seeing in the entirety of the GM display at the auto show is the Satin White Sonic LTZ Turbo Sedan. So money!

I can dig it. Needs to be lowered a bit or have a larger tire though.

Also open to any suggestions for cleaning these corroded wheels
some air craft stripper would potentially work but would also eat the rest of the clear coat off.

the 205/50/16 and the 225/45/16 are the same diameter and also the shortest diameter so for track use those would be my choices.

both are able to be mounted on a 7" rim tirerack lists the ranges for the 205 as 5.5-7.5 rim width while the 225 is listed as 7-8.5 rim width

the 205 is going to look a bit more square/stanced sidewall while the 225 will look a bit pinched.

the 225 would be faster on the track time-wise but the 205 will give better "feel" for what the car is doing by having a more responsive tire profile.

these are just the tire sizes listed for the new star spec 2 215's would be another option from others perhaps.

heres what the 225 looks like on a 7" wide wheel

and heres the 205

225s on a 7 inch wheel look perfect.
