Riding in Brians STi last night pretty much has me convinced that about 350-400whp and instant torque is about what I want for my e30 project.

wtf.

So I finally hunkered down and shot out apps to 7 different companies over in GR last night... Apparently my resume is also out on monster for people to just view randomly and I got a call from a hiring company in RO saying they want to submit my resume to Chrysler and to JCI plymouth... I told him I'm quite happy where I'm at and I only want to leave to move out west and he just kept talking.. I wanted to hang up on him but I felt that wouldn't have been the smartest idea.

Randy at fswerks did mine. He sent me a base tune. Is like to have it fine tuned, but it peob won't do much for svt. Its pretty maxed out. The car bogged on take offs, and shuddered between 2k-3300 ish really bad in all gears. Dunno what Ford was thinking. Tune changed all that. Felt like a new car

Logs will only get you so far by email. Yes, you can go by logs alone and keep adding timing and pulling fuel. The car may not knock or, show any other signs of being worse but, the car is making less and less power. That is something, you can not know by doing email tuning. Period g end. At that point, its second hand knowledge of what the car is doing.

False. with enough data you certainly can. in fact its probably better because you're tuning based on actual data rather than "oh that pull felt harder than the last one"
obviously Dyno tuning is going to be the best for maximizing the tune. but I dont see any examples of street tuned cars consistently making more power than email tuned cars.
A dyno is a great way to get a car tuned as long as, its not a non loading dyno.

There is a local example of an EVO, email tune for everything. The guy puts a new PTE 62xx turbo on the car, new tune from Mr. Email guy. The car doesn't go any faster, doesn't make anymore power over the previous Holset. The owner was finally convinced into getting a real tune down. On the street even, the car picked up over 100whp and a half a second. Note, this email guy is the one that, is highly spoken about but again, with out that extra feed back from the car itself, you cant make power.

An off the shelf tune wont do you any good since, the environment that the car will be in, is not the same as the car the tune came from. Not to mention, that no one car exactly the same. Making the off the shelf tunes, just as garbage as any stock tune or, tune for the car done, out of state.

If you want to make marginal returns on your investments, by all means, keep going with off the shelf and email tunes. When, you want to get the most out of your money, get a tune locally by someone who knows what they are doing. Or, learn to do it yourself since, the tune needs to be changed through out the day to make the most power possible.
