I fallen to whr brad said too, blew motor, was going high compression motor hoping to push around 200+whp na. Had everything, took internals and new block to machine shop and tell me I'm missing some kind of cap and block is useless. So I said it. Car been down a year and can't afford it and patients anymore to find another 2.3 motor and port/polish etc. replace it with stock 2.3 motor then

So personally i've decided to settle for tasteful race inspired cosmetic enhancements for my autotragic and plan on using the money I would spend on a turbo build as a down payment on another car. In my case my car was a gift. I wouldn't have bought it so I can justify (to myself) spending a grand or so on making it look nicer just so I can live with it as a dd while I save for what I really want.

I always enjoy reading other people's progress threads though and it'd be fun as he'll to ride in a balls to the wall boosted focus. I hope you follow through on your plans.
I definitely agree on the matter of platform. The only reason I'm willing to move forward with a FF is that they tend to be lighter and corner a little better than AWD (for the price range and without shredding tires at least), not to mention the focus is probably one of the best members of said platform, and I already own one as opposed to having to buy a different car.

Besides....NOBODY expects the Spanish inquisition!

In a perfect world I'd be driving a Mid-Rear, something like an Exige or Atom, but living in Michigan it would have to be a track-only car, which I've nowhere to store at this point.

Ultimately I'm not 100% bent on a proper race car, the real point is to have a car that is fun to drive, and tracks nicely. If it takes $10k worth of parts to achieve then so be it, it's still cheaper than getting the bimmer I want eventually, and it'll handle Michigan winters better. It's give and take, yaknow? *shrug*

Sorry to hear about that, but that's exactly the kind of stuff that has me seriously considering a pre-built motor in the first place, not to mention the added longevity of a completely fresh motor.
