I has SRI..I like it for the sound personally. I know it didn't give me any gain what so ever, but the car sounds a little better. I have future plans for it (if it sticks around) and that's when I'll be more into getting things that are actually useful.

Also Brad..please no on the cts lol

Also also..made it from Plymouth and Farmington to 12 oaks in 7 min

Mine had the center exit borla.....it sounded pretty good but the Apexi on the white focus was miles beyond.

I have yet to hear any 4 cylinder non subaru engine that sounds as good as a PWSC'd focus with Apexi exhaust.
i like the sound of my exhaust. its gotta be down to 2.3. if i ever do take my cat off the car i know its gonna sound like shit.

i have 2.5" magnaflow exhaust with the huge 6x20"(i think) magnaflow resonator.

I look forward to seeing your build come along/get nearer to being finished.

I merely responded the way I did because 99.999998% of all the people we get in here talk about all these great plans/ideas they have to build some monster of a focus unlike anything the rest of us have ever seen. however they wind up running out of time, money, or patience.

Then either give up on building their car and drive it as is or they buy something else with more potential right out of the box.

As someone who spent enough money on his car to buy 2 more focuses I have to say, nothing makes you feel worse than taking your newly boosted focus out to stretch its legs only to discover that stock WRX's still walk away from you and its even worse when your built NA focus can't keep up to your father driving the family minivan*

*Both stories based on true facts from 2 different focues I owned.

if you actually follow through with a Toms motor built engine and all the other mods you mention, you bet your ass I'll be the first person to drive out and get in line for a ride!

Best of luck to you!

In closing, I see your shark and raise you 1 bunny with a waffle on his head.

I can understand the misgivings about my intentions for the car, especially since historically I have involuntarily fallen into that category to a degree.
I've been wanting to do this kind of work to the car since I bought it going on 7yrs ago now, but haven't really had much luck with employers til recently. Fortunately I couldn't ask for a better job right now, so long as it remains stable I see no reason why I shouldn't stick to my guns on the plans I had for it from the beginning, or at least be able to at least get the suspension on the car up to snuff.

From that point things get kinda iffy. Current motor is down on compression, and if I start digging into it, the perfectionist in me is gonna keep finding shit that it needs;
ˇOhey, valves and springs worn? Replace!
ˇReplace vales and springs? Get better ones!
ˇBetter valves and springs? Port and polish!
ˇHead is off, might as well check rings! Rings worn / cracked? Replace!
ˇReplace rings? Get better rings and fresh pistons to go with them!
ˇBetter Pistons/Rings waste if not refinish the bore!
ˇBlock disassembled? Stroker kit!
...and on and on and on.

Best just to get everything in one package from Tom. Way more cost effective, he has more practice at it and has already put in all the R&D time. Mullet or no.
Much less headache that way.

I like less headache. It makes for smile.

If all goes well, I'm expecting the total rebuild of the car from start to finish to take a year or two, but I'm aiming to at least finish suspension by springtime.

I think it's cool that you want to build the hell out of your focus. I had always wanted to build my focus motor and boost it.

But as I've gotten older I've just lost interest in the platform for the reasons that klod is talking about. It's just way too expensive to make these cars go fast versus the cost of just buying a better platform and going from there.

So personally i've decided to settle for tasteful race inspired cosmetic enhancements for my autotragic and plan on using the money I would spend on a turbo build as a down payment on another car. In my case my car was a gift. I wouldn't have bought it so I can justify (to myself) spending a grand or so on making it look nicer just so I can live with it as a dd while I save for what I really want.

I always enjoy reading other people's progress threads though and it'd be fun as he'll to ride in a balls to the wall boosted focus. I hope you follow through on your plans.
