yea but why spend all that time/energy and money for a project like that when you could instead construct a sway bar tester and determine how much additional roll stiffness you gain for every 1 setting stiffer you get?

to me knowing that I'm gaining 5.25% roll stiffness if I go from full soft to medium would be more useful than gaining .5hp (which I could very easily over come the power deficit by getting on the gas .0002 seconds sooner)

Our main point with not getting the SRI is that you can do other things which will have far more improvement on lap times for the same amount of money.

Let me count the ways...

Because I can.

Because it's cool

Because when i spend half the day clearing my brothers shit out of the garage so i have workspace, the last thing i want to worry about is whether or not i can finish a more involved project in time so i can drive the car to work the next day.

Because as a proper gearhead, I actually like wrenching and sweating and toiling and cursing the car up and down just for that .5 more hp of pure NA win.

Because while other guy scoffs at several minor .5hp gain projects, I has 3.5 more hp than them in the end.

It's not like I'm going to forego proper upgrades like exhaust, or suspension or diff or w/e, its that i dont scoff at any gain. period. So really...at the end of the day, it's all about...

...because racecar.

So basically its about "because a cold air intake looks flashier than my boring stock air box"

Companies with access to flow benchs, sophisticated modeling softwares and other engineering blingy stuff can't out-design a intake that has been designed by COSWORTH.......you know.....one of the best aftermarket part companies in the world?

all I'm trying to say is there are far better ways to get your hands dirty working on the car that will still make it better. I'm not knocking you at all. CAI's are fun projects. I've modeled up several different hair brained ideas for a carbon fiber intake for my car.

but what it really comes down to is when I only have 3-4 hours to work on the car I'd rather spend those 3-4 hours doing a project that I KNOW 100% will improve my track times, rather than a project that may or may not (and has been proven many times not to) give me faster lap times.

This really is an interesting topic and I'm interested in hearing other opinions/point of views because that helps me have a better process for building my car!

False.

I'm thankful to have been blessed with some small amount of natural talent. I know I could be way faster if I didn't have such terrible car ADD.

I dont think I've raced the same car more than 2 years...

contrast that too guys who have been running the same car 5-7 years in a row?!?

I wish I knew any 1 car that well, I'd be way g faster.
