That depends partly on how bad yours surges / bogs. if it's not bad at all, then the $400 could be better spent on TB, SRI, and wideband MAF Sensor before the tune. You'd see better returns from the tune, then. You can go any route you like when you use Tom's tune though, since he issues free updates when you change parts on your car as long as it stays NA.
And since I hate to assume things - no CEL atm, right?

I have Tom's on stock SVTf and it didnt help power much, but it definitely smoothed out the surging and reduced bogging on takeoff.

I completely disagree. An SRI does nothing to the SVT engine, and the TB is marginal, supposedly adds throttle response, no proven dyno or acceleration results.

Ask basically every SVT or former SVT owner, the first thing they say is Tune. The stock tune sucks butt. If you get free tune updates, and the tune is the single best mod for this car, why wouldn't you do it first?

I agree with this guy.

on my NA focus the tune was the single best improvement I made power wise.

the full exhaust was 2nd.

switching from a CAI back to a stock svtf box also improved the powerband.

Okay so you guys seem pretty knowledgable about these cars, and me being new to the scene, I've got a few questions. When I'm holding the rpms steady in 1 thru third, usually in the lower end, I can feel an oscillation in the speed. Any clues as to what's causing this?

Disagree all you like. There's method to my madness:

-It will save him the step of having to flash a second time if he upgrades these parts anyway later.
-TB will help with launch bog
-SRI replaces the restrictive stock SVT snorkel and airbox.
-Tom suggests having the wideband MAF for his tune.

As a set of parts that can all be changed at the same time for the same price as the tune, it's a great first step as long as the surging isnt driving him crazy so far and plans to continue upgrading the car. If he has the $400 now, then he can get toms with his tax return. ~.^

If you're only ever going to do one thing to the car - Tom's tune. Hands down.

A tune helps with launch bog as much or more than the TB does.

You might want to do some research on this. The Stock snorkel and airbox were designed by Cowsorth, and are not restrictive. I had an SRI on my SVTF, and lost power.

also fixed

an ORP and a Tune at the 2 single greatest power adders for the money on an SVT the tb may improve feel a little, and the intake/exhaust really only change the sound of the car.
