Thanks guys. I'm not part of a credit union though, do you think I'd still get a decent loan offer? I think I might need to just go in and see what a local CU can do for me.
not sure about other C/U's but LMCU's staff always seems very helpful/knowledgeable when I talk to them. I'd think you could probably just talk to one of their loan advisers and give them the above details you gave us and they'd have a pretty good idea of if they could beat the other rates or not.

it shouldn't matter if you're already a member or not because if they can beat the rates and you decide to go with them they'd probably have you start a checking account or something with them to make the car payments out of.

it shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes if the C/U isnt that busy and it could wind up saving you quite a bit of money.

also keep in mind that each time a loan app is applied for and they request your credit score it drops by 2 points. So dont have them run the app if they aren't very sure they could beat it.

my buddy windowshopped so many cars/loans that it actually bumped him down a bracket on his credit scores.

its not a big deal doing 2-3 apps but 20 would be a noticeable drop in credit score.

P.S.
These are sample values/rates but a $15k loan at 7% is $359 a month for 4 years. the same loan at 5% interest is $342 a month which saves you $860 over the course of the loan.

Yeah I'm at work so I can't call him yet. I guess I also don't understand how your friend could get me a lower rate than what Chase came up with through the dealer. Not saying its not possible, I just have no idea how that stuff works.

When I told him they told you 9% he was like dafuq you just say.

I'm wondering if getting a dealer to get the loan vs yourself is the difference. I told him everything you sent me lol.

dealers make a LOT on the loans they finance... it's part of why they love to try and get you to finance through them.

the Chaney health plan:

1) anything can be solved with a good poo.
2) if crapping is the issue, fight fire with fire
