Morning.

Had a guy come look at the focus yesterday. I officially hate letting random people test drive standard transmission cars, it never goes well. This guy was in 5th gear going 35mph -___- barely shifted at 2k RPM for each gear...I tried hinting at the fact he could shift at a higher RPM but he didn't understand..

It amazes me how bad people are at driving a manual. The guy that I bought my ST from drove like crap. He always shifted super low, and didn't get on the gas again until a full second after the shift.

Jordan your as big of a whore as Ed.

Also when I went and test drove the TT a couple years back the dealer guy was impressed that I actually knew how to get into reverse in that car. Apparently he had to explain it to every other person who test drove it.

I agree! I most definitely profile people before I let them drive my cars. when I sell them. if you show up driving a manual I'll probably let you. if your over 35 I'll probably let you. if you dont fit either criteria I'll let you sit in the car while its running and feel the clutch, put it into all the gears and then I'll take you for a test ride.

my favorite/worst test drive experience I had was a mother/son came to look at one of my jetta's he was a bit younger than me, his mom was about 40 ish...she's going to drive because he "hasn't driven a manual enough to test drive other peoples cars"

pulling out of the driveway she stalls it immediately because she forgot to take the parking brake off.......no big deal it happens to me occasionally. so she takes off and halfway down our drive I swear I hear grinding but o well too late now.

She gets back to the house and goes to back it into my parking spot but she can't get it to go into reverse. She pulls the parking brake, shuts the car off and gets out in a huff and says "You told my son on the phone the car shifted fine and that it goes into all the gears smoothly, but it grinds in every gear, the most we can offer you is XXXX (half my asking price) and to top it off it doesnt go into reverse at all."

I told her I had just driven it home from work less than an hour ago and that I was certain the car drove fine, if she would get back in I could show her. Well they stormed off and so I got into the car to investigate.......as I got into the car I noticed that the seat was still all the way back in my normal driving position.....the lady was at least a foot shorter than me......mk4's have an incredibly long pedal travel and the car drove totally fine even afterwards lol
